Thecus NAS
About Thecus
Founded in 2004, Thecus is a relative newcomer, but has already made an impact with several of its models. Concentrating largely on NAS products, Thecus has already released nearly two dozen NAS and related devices, making their presence well known to many consumers.
Thecus is headquartered in Taiwan, but also has a corporate presence in the United States, Germany, Austria, and China.
Generally speaking, Thecus provides a wide variety of higher-end NAS devices, though this does often come with a commensurately higher price tag. Also, they don't cater as much to newcomers and those who have less technical knowledge, so aren't generally recommended for beginners. Some models in particular are notorious for having relatively weak support and documentation, so as always consumers are recommended to research their options carefully before making a final selection.
Thecus models also tend to provide a wider variety of RAID options than many competitor brands, while maintaining quicker speeds for both reading and writing despite the increased complexity. As a result, Thecus models are strongest recommended to more advanced users, people with enough technical skills of their own who are capable of getting the most out of their purchase and want more flexibility in their NAS solution than the average consumer.
