QNAP TS-809 Pro
On the larger end of NAS arrays, the TS-809 is an 8 bay bring your own drive system. Powered by a 2.4 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, and 128 MB Flash, the TS-809 is well equipped to handle the larger number of drives. As with most NAS arrays, the TS-809 is relatively simple to get running regardless of your operating system, whether you're running Windows, Mac, or Linux on your other machines.

The TS-809 offers a wide variety of common RAID options, including 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+Spare, and JBOD. In addition to these RAID options, the TS-809 also offers Online RAID Capacity Expansion, and Online RAID Level Migration.
In addition to RAID, it also offers a one touch copy button, allowing either one of the drives to be copied to or from an external hard drive, depending on the array's configuration.
Independent testing puts the TS-809's backup speeds in the neighborhood of 20 MB/s. This illustrates the biggest weakness of the TS-809 - though powered by some serious hardware, it doesn't have eSATA ports, forcing transfers to be conducted primarily across the significantly slower USB lines. Still, with an array this size, external storage backups aren't the primary concern. Instead, the drive focuses on stronger internal reading and writing, reaching speeds in from the low 60's to mid 80's in MB/s, depending on what specific RAID configuration is being tested.
As with other QNAP products, the TS-809 Pro also offers easy third-party software additions, many available for download and installed easily through the QPKG software package platform.
