The TS-639 uses a modern AJAX supported web-based interface.  Other popular features such as BitTorrent and iTunes support can easily be activated through the firmware.

Like most larger NAS arrays, the TS-639 is designed with a heavy emphasis on RAID support, with  RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+Spare, JBOD, online RAID capacity expansion, and online RAID level migration all supported as core options for owners.

Also as with other large NAS arrays, the TS-639 offers easy hot-swapping of disks properly configured for RAID usage, allowing removal of failed disks without disabling the server or even upgrading storage capacity without significant outages.  The TS-639 also comes with five USB ports and two eSATA ports, useful for either expanding the capacity of the server even further or for backup purposes.

Independent testing strongly supports the transfer speeds of the QNAP TS-639, clocking in transfer speeds in the mid to high 90's MB/s range for gigabit read performance, out-classing most models available on the market today.

As with other QNAP devices, the TS-639 has supports QNAP's package manager, which makes installation of various third-party software simple, allowing you to easily drop Squeezecenter, MLDonkey, WordPress, or a variety of other programs into the TS-639 easily and seemlessly.
