Drobo FS Speed Test
We've gotten a hold of the new NAS - Drobo-FS. Our speed test using the Intel NAS Performance Toolkit (with 4, 2TB Samsung Drives Installed - single disk redundancy) shows that the Drobo is ok in the speed department.
The Drobo FS average performance (total throughput) is about 29.449MB/s. The average of all tests run was 20.24.
This puts the performance just about at that of the Thecus N5200 - a speed demon from about a generation ago of NAS devices.
On this page you can compare these results to other NAS devices we have tested (and see the test methodology.)
Real world performance seems somewhat better than these numbers might suggest. When copying large video files, we achieved in excess of 95 GB per hour using Robocopy from a fast Windows Home Server machine. To put this in perspective, this is among the fastest video file copy performance we have experienced with a NAS - the top we have ever achieved was in the range of 120 GB per hour between two fast windows machines.
