About Cisco
One of the biggest names in computer hardware today, Cisco was founded in 1984, and has since become a massive corporation employing tens of thousands of employees and earning billions in revenue every fiscal quarter.
Though originally founded to create and sell application networking and transfer systems, Cisco has since branched out into many related areas, including digital security systems, communications, video streaming, and of course NAS device production.
One major reason to consider buying a Cisco NAS is that many companies are also using many of their other technical devices already. By selecting a NAS from the same company, the likelihood of technical incompatibility drops significantly, giving Cisco a strong edge in virtually any field they put their hand to.
Most of Cisco's customers tend to be large corporations, resulting in most of their NAS devices having a focus on higher end models with large unit capacity.
However, every so often they do release smaller units more suited for use at home or in a small office setting. These generally maintain the overall excellent quality of Cisco devices, acting as smaller scale models of their larger products by maintaining the relatively high storage capacity and strong performance despite the differing target audience
The main drawback to Cisco's models is the cost. As with most of their products, their NASs tend to be top of the line, and the price reflects this fact. That said, for anyone who considers quality to be their cheif concern, Cisco models should certainly be considered when selecting a storage device.
